We've done it again. Jugar's alternate logo concept was selected for inclusion in LogoLounge's "Typography and Enclosures", the fourth book in the Master Library series. "It's nice to see our work alongside some of the heavy hitters in the design industry. It's both humbling and exciting." said Eleazar Hernandez, creative director/owner of Jugar
Our Jugar logo was named one of the Juror's favorites in the new book Logo Lounge 6! There were 35,000 entries with only 2,000 selected for inclusion in the book. Of the 2,000 selected, only 8 were named Juror's favorites. Juror Tessa Westermeyer, Executive Creative Director from Landor in Geneva, Switzerland writes, "There is a level ...of simplicity that makes this so compelling; the use of positive and negative creates an impactful result. It is so successful in black and white, however, that I could imagine it executed in a range of very graphic primary colors. There is timelessness in this design. It harkens back to a simpler era, although it still has a fresh and relevant feel today."
"We were honored to have been selected for publication in LogoLounge 6. Having our logo be selected as one of the juror's favorites is the icing on the cake." said Eleazar Hernandez, creative director/owner of Jugar.
The creative troops were out in full force as the American Advertising Federation (AAF) — San Antonio honored its own during the ADDY Awards. But it wasn't all about taking something home; ADDY guests were encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item, which will be given to the San Antonio Food Bank and all proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the military charity Operation: Comfort — supporting wounded soldiers at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC).Jugar was recognized with two awards: a silver and a bronze Addy. The bronze Addy was awarded to us and our teammate, Komet Communications, for work on a brochure for CKC Custom Homes. The brochure showcased some of the executive residences that are constructed by the home builder. We also received a silver Addy for a self-promotion mailer titled "Need a little creative?" The mailer contained a folding paper doll that looked amazingly like our creative director and owner, Eleazar Hernandez.
"This is a tremendous honor for us. Having only submitted four projects and winning two awards has us batting .500. I think that's a pretty good average." said Eleazar. "While our designwork isn't about winning awards, it's nice to be recognized for the work we do. I am looking forward to another successful year."
The ADDY Awards are considered the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, recognizing creative excellence and the very best worldwide.
National design magazine Graphic Design USA has selected JUGAR Owner & Creative DirectorEleazar Hernandez as one of their People to Watch. Eleazar is profiled along with 35 other
creative professionals from across the nation in the magazine’s January issue. With no other
creative professionals from San Antonio or Texas profiled, Eleazar represents the region and
received praise from several design professionals for his devotion to his craft and his
commitment to educating the public about communication design.
For decades, Graphic Design USA has chosen a group of People to Watch “who embody the
spirit of the creative community.” The criteria for selection, according to GD USA’s Publisher
Gordon Kaye, is: “individuals who we have come to know and respect for a combination of talent,
leadership, success, insight, business savvy, community service and newsworthiness.”
Jugar's creative director, Eleazar Hernandez, teamed with Drew/Walker to design and program a web site for Dreams Fulfilled Through Music at this year's AIR-San Antonio
event. AIR stands for "Accessibility Internet Rally". AIR-San Antonio is a one-day web
design competition in which teams of developers create web sites for local non-profit
organizations, sites that are accessible to everyone – including people with
disabilities, wounded returning soldiers, and senior citizens as they age. The
"web-raising" took place in one day, with a two-week planning period between web
teams and their non-profit partners just prior to Rally Day.
The sites were judged on the following criteria: core accessibility, basic
accessibility, overall site quality, form controls, links, timing, pop-ups, color,
relative units, cascading style sheets (css), sitemap and site aesthetics.
Following a two week judging period, the Jugar/Drew/Walker team was notified that they
had taken first place, beating out six other web development teams.
"It was quite challenging to produce a fully-functioning web site in one day. Luckily, my
partners from Drew/Walker, were there to provide the support I needed to make the site a
reality." said Eleazar. "Would I do it again next year? Absolutely. Design isn't just about
making money, it's also about making a difference in the world."
We can prove, and not just say that great design sells. Many of our clients see asubstantial commercial ROI directly linked to our design.
Using client verified data we track increases in sales, value, distribution and market
share, plus transformations in sector, consumer and staff behaviour, as well as
decreases in costs and environmental impact.
The DBA Design Effectiveness Awards aren't a beauty pageant (but we do win
plenty of those). They are purely about the math and about demonstrating a
design's impact on business performance.
Having won the most of these prestigious awards, we are the world's No.1 for
commercially effective design.
